Sharon Tayfield is the first recipient of the Global Payroll Titan Award, presented by the Global Payroll Management Institute (GPMI).
A Global Payroll Titan is a professional who demonstrates measurable positive effects for their organization, their commitment to the global payroll industry, and their innovative approach to global payroll issues.
“This award is extremely humbling and at the same time a huge honor,” Tayfield said, who has more than 25 years of experience.
GPMI established the award program to allow industry peers to celebrate, recognize, and empower deserving global payroll professionals. GPMI received more than 60 nominations and more than 7,500 votes were cast in the "People's Choice" public voting portion of the award program.
Tayfield is the Director of Global Payroll Operations for BDO LLP in the United Kingdom and was nominated for the 2020 award by a manager in the Business Development Division within her company because of her knowledge of global payroll compliance and legislation. She is currently responsible for processing payroll in more than 90 countries.
“A highly respected global payroll expert, Sharon’s knowledge and impact furthers important strategic relationships for BDO and the payroll industry,” said Isabel Duckworth, Global Outsoucing Business Development Manager at BDO, in the nomination form. “Her highly focused style to business delivers a lean approach to project management.”
Tayfield feels that all global payroll professionals should be honored for their role during the current global pandemic.
“We are in uncharted waters with COVID-19 and the global payroll professionals have rallied together providing support and sharing knowledge in a remarkable way,” Tayfield said. “I feel that everyone deserves to be a Titan right now!”
