Mexico City is working with Mastercard to tap the potential of electronic payments. Mexico City’s major subway and bus networks carry 5.5 million travelers each day, and they require different ticketing systems. In addition, about nine million daily trips take place on small buses that take cash only. Mastercard will work with local banking partners to launch a debit card that can be used for both transit payments as well as everyday purchases. According to the company, for many citizens, such a card may be the first step toward building a digital identity—a critical component to fully participate in the formal economy.

“Mexico City has tremendous experience in managing the daily operations of a mega city—a task that is constantly evolving,” said Antonio Junco, President of Mastercard Mexico and Central America. “We look forward to providing our expertise to help Mexico City continue on its path to become a smart, connected, and inclusive city—advancing a better quality of life for all its citizens.”

Ramco has announced that its payroll software is now available in Japan. Instead of offering payroll solutions through partners, Ramco has now developed software in both Japanese and English to provide customers with a single solution. According to the company, the software is fully localized and reduces the number of software solutions customers need, making it more cost-efficient.

Ramco Systems CEO Virender Aggarwal said a growing number of multinational organizations are looking to consolidate their worldwide operations on a unified platform.

“Our success in addressing Fortune 500 and MNCs and drive to strengthen our APAC Payroll coverage led to the addition of Japan Payroll,” Aggarwal said. “We are confident that Japanese MNCs will benefit significantly from Ramco’s highly configurable and innovative platform, which will help streamline their national expansion by automating companywide payroll and administrative processes.”
