We at the Global Payroll Management Institute (GPMI) know that global payroll professionals are excellent, but only one of them has confirmation from Her Majesty the Queen.

Alison Sellar received the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) from Queen Elizabeth II this summer in Scotland. The Founder and CEO of activpayroll was featured in Global Payroll last year. We congratulate Alison, and I know you’ll enjoy reading about the pomp and circumstance surrounding her honor.

Although this next award wasn’t bestowed by the Queen, the Global Vision Award was presented to another well-known global payroll professional. Max van der Klis-Busink, RPP, became GPMI’s first recipient of the award this past May during the Global Payroll Management Forum, held in conjunction with the American Payroll Association’s (APA) Annual Congress in National Harbor, Maryland.

The award is well-deserved for the enthusiastic global payroll advocate, who has been a great contributor to GPMI since 2015. Read on to learn more about Max’s achievement and all of the events surrounding the Forum. Once you have, we hope you’ll make plans to join us at the 4th Annual Global Payroll Management Forum, May 14-18, 2019, in Long Beach, California.

Elsewhere in this issue, you’ll find a Country Spotlight on Macedonia, an article on how to master difficult conversations in global payroll, tips for preparing a successful RFP for a global payroll solution, and much more.

Happy reading,
