The Global Payroll Management Institute (GPMI) celebrated the fifth annual Global Payroll Week (GPW) 25-29 April. The weeklong event was dedicated to increasing global payroll professionals’ skill levels through multiple education, training, and networking opportunities. The week recognized payroll professionals around the world for their essential efforts to pay employees accurately and on time, every time.

A Week of Educational Content

One of the main goals of GPW is to provide educational opportunities for global payroll professionals. During the week, GPMI hosted three complimentary webinars for the global payroll community. More than 1,000 individuals registered to attend the presentations “The Past, Present, and Future of Global Payroll: A Practitioner and Industry Analyst Point of View,” a panel discussion with GPW sponsors on “Navigating the Challenges of Global Payroll,” and an additional conversation with GPW sponsors on “The Path to Global Fluency.” All three GPW webinars are currently available on demand, and all attendees are eligible to earn 1 recertification credit hour (RCH) per webinar.

Along with the complimentary webinars, GPMI published and shared new content for the global payroll community. This included the release of a new white paper, “Put Your Global Payroll Data Into Action,” and mini email guides throughout the week that took a deep dive into global payroll topics that are top of mind for today’s payroll leaders.

Exclusive Industry Insight

GPMI hosted the annual “Getting the World Paid” survey as part of its GPW celebration. The annual survey is an important tool to gauge industry trends in the rapidly evolving global payroll landscape. Over 400 global payroll professionals from countries around the world participated in the survey in the months leading up to GPW. Their responses revealed insights on topics such as technology, standardization, service providers, and data accuracy.

Full results from the survey were published on the GPMI website during GPW, and select results were also used to create a series of infographics for global payroll professionals to share with their online communities.

Recognition for Global Payroll Professionals

GPMI held its third annual Global Payroll Titan award program in conjunction with GPW. The Global Payroll Titan award program celebrates, empowers, and recognizes the outstanding professionals responsible for processing multi-country payrolls.

The online submission process opened on 10 February, with GPMI receiving over 30 nominations. All eligible nominees then moved forward to a public “People’s Choice” online voting in April, where more than 1,500 votes were cast for the nominees that participants felt best represented a Global Payroll Titan. Each nomination was then reviewed by a panel of global payroll professionals, and one nominee emerged as the clear winner.

On the final day of GPW, Mohita Awasthee, CPP, was revealed as the 2022 Global Payroll Titan. Mohita is a Senior Manager of Payroll, APAC & Africa, at Amazon and has more than 18 years of experience.

Social Media Impact

Social media was a popular way to engage the international community and share in GPW festivities online. Daily messages that celebrated the global payroll industry and the role they play in getting the world’s workforce paid were shared by global payroll professionals across Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram using the official event hashtag #GlobalPayWeek.

GPMI social messaging reached over 9,000 individuals during GPW with over 528 interactions.

GPW aims to elevate the visibility of the global payroll industry. The success of GPW was made possible with support from payroll professionals and payroll providers around the globe and our official GPW sponsors, which included the following:

  • ADP
  • CloudPay
  • Immedis
  • Neeyamo

Be sure to save the date for the 2023 Global Payroll Week celebration, 1-5 May 2023.
